Acer Chromebook Spin 15

Acer Chromebook Spin 15 CP315 is a lower-middle-range Chromebook with a good screen and average specs. In many ways, it’s the perfect Chromebook design. It’s perfect for browsing the web and watching videos, and it has more features for casual users than techies. It’s one of the best Chromebooks for seniors because it’s cheap, has a good screen, and works well enough.

Why did we like the Acer Chromebook Spin 15 CP315?

The Acer Chromebook Spin 15 CP315 is a good-budget Chromebook. It has a good touch screen and good, but not great, Chrome OS performance. It’s a good deal for basic uses. Or, check out the Acer Chromebook Spin 713 if you want a high-end Chromebook.

Pros

  • The screen is good for the price.
  • It has a touchscreen, and it works well enough for the price.

Cons

  • It has a small amount of storage and not enough RAM.

Display Resolution of Acer Chromebook Spin 15

The display on the Acer Chromebook Spin 15 CP315 has both good and bad points. It’s an IPS screen, which means it has good viewing angles and colours overall. It’s also a 1080p screen, which means it’s clear and can fit more UI elements on the screen.

It has a touch screen, so you can use it as a tablet, and it’s bright enough to stand out from even much more expensive models like the HP Chromebook x360 14. Even so, it only shows about 68% of the sRGB colour spectrum, which makes it look a bit dull. But for $400, there’s not much to gripe about. How well does the Acer Chromebook Spin 15 CP315 Battery has?

It has a 3-cell, 4670 mAh battery, which is a good size, and a very low-power processor, so the battery life is pretty good. At low brightness levels, it can last for more than 8 to 9 hours on a single charge. This makes it good for long work sessions or casual browsing over longer periods of time. It lasts longer than the Asus Chromebook C523NA, which makes it a better choice if you care most about battery life.

Weight

The Acer Chromebook Spin 15 CP315 is a very heavy machine for its class, coming in at 4.6 pounds. The Acer Chromebook 514 is over 1 pound lighter and has the same or better hardware than the Spin. This makes the Spin seem old and cumbersome.

Even though 4.7 pounds isn’t too bad for a 15.6-inch machine, it would have been nice to see something lighter, especially with such weak hardware. High-end gaming laptops with top-of-the-line hardware weigh less than this does.

What is the Durability of Acer Chromebook Spin 15 CP315?

The Acer Chromebook Spin 15 CP315 is made of thick plastic that has a textured surface to make it easier to carry around. It has a double hinge that should last, and the overall build quality is good for the price. Aluminium would have been nice, but for $400, it’s hard to complain too much.

Inputs

Port selection is pretty typical for a Chromebook that isn’t cheap. It has two USB Type-C ports, a microSD card, and two USB Type-A ports. It only has 32 GB of internal storage, so you’ll need that SD card slot.

It’s fine for browsing the web, but more storage would have been nice, especially at such a high price. Its keyboard is nothing to write home about. It has a very short travel and a just-fine feel overall. It’s not the best, but it’s also not the worst.

The End of the Acer Chromebook Spin 15 CP315

The Acer Chromebook Spin 15 CP315 is an odd piece of technology. Like many Chromebooks, it has a strange list of specs that leaves users wanting a little bit more. It only has 32 GB of storage, which isn’t enough for anything but the lightest uses.

It only has 4 GB of RAM, which isn’t enough for any kind of multitasking (not that Chrome OS is great at that). It’s a fantastic option for using Google Chrome and a few basic apps, but users who require or want more power, a better screen, or a smaller package should look elsewhere.
